THE WOODEN SWORDS CHAPTER 15. - THE RETURN OF THE SPY!
-What did they say?
-Did they torture you for information?
-How many cowboys are there?
-Was that greedy fat boy there?
Timmy’s triumphant return from his mission meeting with the cowboys had resulted in hundreds of questions, but our ambassador had refused to reveal anything at school or until he had finished his first slice of chocolate cake freshly basked by James’ mum.
We had all squeezed into James’s bedroom to hear Timmy’s official report and James’ mum had prepared lots of snacks for us. James’ mum works from home, but James doesn’t know what she does, although he thinks it is something top secret for the government because she never lets him touch her work.
All eyes were watching Timmy finish his chocolate cake, then he put the plate on the carpet, wiped his mouth with a napkin, coughed and tapped the side of his glass of orange juice with his pen to get our attention, which he already had.
-On Sunday at 1400, I, Timmy, the Ambassador for Switzerland and representative for the Knights of Kings Road, went to meet the Cowboys of Elm Street. I met with Simon, their leader, and Tom, his deputy sheriff. We had cake, juice and then discussed comic books, talked about cowboy films and the possibility of a war. They said they aren't ready for war at the moment, but maybe next Wednesday when the summer holidays have started.
Nobody said a word and I realized that, as leader, it was up to me to ask the first question.
-Where do they want to have the battle, Timmy?
-The small park in the Queen Road!
-The one near Adam’s house and the candy shop?
-Yep!
-Were you scared?
-Anne, ambassadors are never scared!
-Did they have a doctor?
-Hmm, I think Simon’s younger sister is the nurse.
-Aha, only a nurse, not a doctor!
-They want to meet us before the battle though.
-Why?
-They want to discuss the battle rules.
-Beggers! There are no rules in battle!
-Adam, we should hear what they want to say. When do they want to meet?
-On Wednesday after school outside the same park.
-Are we going to meet them?
-Not all of us, Alex. They said just you and me.
-Oh! Ok.
-No! You can’t, they are thieves and they steal cakes!
-Ron said that you stole his cake!
-Oh, so you know his name! Friends now, huh?
-Ralph, you also know his name.
-I never stole his chocolate chip cake!
-Ralph, I never said it was chocolate chip.
-….
-RALPH!!!
