A World Of Demons #poem by Jan Sand

Every day today is Halloween
When ghosts and spectres arise
In the guise of common reality
To seize with ferocities what we believe,
Domesticate all who exist with fists of hate,
With fears to choke away complacencies,
Demolish decencies, oblivion inchoate.

Conceptions of an inclination, a thought
That meanders through speculations
Place it, in character, amongst soft whispers
Of suspicions, suppositions of evanescent possibility.
But mental mechanics are not all that elusive,
Quite palpable when its theoretics are made plain,
Where loss or gain of life itself are at stake to take
Accounts of threats or pleasures placed in the game.

Perception is a chain of links, packages of sensations locked
In patterned blocks labeled in flavors of emotions defined
By experience or fixed in mind out of inheritance to evaluate
Utilities or dangers metaphored in neuron webs as creatures,
Alive, a zoo of animals in communities of representation
To generate a theater to shape reprisals where directed
Or welcomes of opportunity where gifts may be realized.

This is the arena for revelations to romp to interplay and procreate,
Generate those commands that dictate where and why and how
To go, to understand that people do not have ideas,
It’s ideas that have people.
