Faded Love #poem & #painting by Nikos Laios

I saw you in the corridor,
You were holding back tears,
Trembling like a dove,
Solitary and alone.

You carried yourself
With a grace and dignity,
You looked fearless,
I wanted to approach
And talk to you,
But you needed
Your space.

Your hair glistened
Under the corridor lights,
You picked up some books
From your locker and held
Them in your arms
Embracing them
Tightly.

You walked away
Lost in your sadness,
The gulf between us
Wide as a canyon;
We were close once,
Strangers now,
Lost in our
Faded love.
