Southern Sky #poem & #painting by Nikos Laios

They sat on a bench
And watched the ships
Sail in and the harbour
Lights were flickering
,
And they drank scotch
Straight from the bottle
In a paper bag and smoked
Cigars in silence and breathed
In the salty taste of the harbour,
As the waves slapped against
The docks and sounds of
Clanging metallic yacht masts
Filled the cool night air
Under the twinkling stars
Of a southern sky.
