Much of this wet world maintains,
Unattained in mysteries, unexplained,
Beneath the roll and rise of waves
Where life arose to propose
Explorations of this world and more.
The ships that swing and plunge to traverse
This hidden universe, to plunder of its wonder,
Match ravages of the continents.
And both are maimed beyond reclaim if this goes on.
But humanity in all its cruelty and disregard
For the fundamentals of existence
Looks headed for demise in fragility of persistence.
Life itself is excellent in qualities to revive,
To transform, reform, to innovate its ways
To tumble into possibilities to stay alive.
The seas may no longer tolerate
The current forms, but there are many norms
To investigate its fertility, its ability
That seizes oddities to multiply and proliferate.
Somewhere at an inlet pool where a breeze could stir
A most peculiar frond of red or green or blue that extends
To touch a docile beam of light from a calmer Sun
That might signify that ancient curiosities have again begun.
