Siren Songs Of Sydney #Poem & #Painting by Nikos Laios

On a dark velvet night
I discovered the soul of this city;
Pulsating beats wrapped in
The rushing sounds of traffic,
And the tree-tops bent by a
Cold breeze on a windy night,

The sounds and the aromas
Of boulevards, streets and alleyways
Mingling with fat drops of rain splashing
The pavements as I strolled among
The steel and glass towers,
Bars, pubs and clubs.
The colours of neon signs
Reflecting on the wet pavements
Like a fauvist painting,
And I was mesmerised by it all;
The intoxicating stimulation
And the beautiful smiling
Faces of this vibrant metropolis,
Seduced by its siren songs
As I navigated the night
Like a modern Odysseus
Returning home.
