Last Night #Poem & #Painting by Nikos Laios

Ragged and wrecked,
They navigated through
Winding lanes and cobblestone
Streets that threaded through
The old town on a cold foggy night,
And the street lamps glowed yellow,

And the fog rubbed up against the stone walls,
And they were filled with whisky and rum
And swayed to-and-fro searching for
The sanctuary of another warm tavern;
Their last night in town before the
Whaling ship set sail in the morning
For distant shores.
