For this issue of the Ovi Thematic eMagazine we decided to focus on a surprise -though not far from our usual spectrum of interest, theme Biohacking; the practice of modifying one's biology for enhanced performance or health.
Motivation and inspiration for this issue – and he has my personal gratitude for that – is Prof. Anis H. Bajrektarevic and the interesting email exchange we had about the thematic issues.
This issue has ...both sides of the argument but is also has a ...fiction side that in my opinion adds strongly to the conversation and I’m also thankful for that.
But back to biohacking, Ovi is an opinion eMagzine and Ovi contributors do exactly that, express opinion on a subject that seems to present a captivating philosophical dilemma: to what extent should humans strive to transcend their biological limitations and the very essence of what it means to be human?
While this issue gives some information it also tries to rise some questions; questions that require careful consideration and debate, for instance shouldn’t we grapple with the ethical implications of altering human nature, the potential for unintended consequences or the long-term societal impact of widespread biological enhancement?
And this is exactly what we are attempting to do in this issue without this meaning that we are the experts. Barely opinionated and strongly hoping that we can motive you to do further research, check what the experts have to say and most importantly ...think.
A big thank to the people who contributed for this issue to become true,
