Balcony Nights #poem & #painting by Nikos Laios

A neat scotch,
On my balcony
Considering it all,
The flashing lights
Of the skyline on
The other side of the
Sydney Harbour Bridge,
A Coltrane album playing,
Jazz perfection.

I dream of new poetry,
Shapes and colours,
Like some figures of a
Chagall painting coming
To life and floating
In the starry night.

The ice cubes
Clink in my glass,
The night air is crisp,
I feel a perfect moment
Of communion
With this city,
With the world.
