Capturing #Poem by Jan Sand
We reach for words to catch what cannot be contained
And find they can remind, to some, at least,
That feast of one instant or two that was significant.
But the limitations are profound when sensitivities
Do not exist to message realities beyond experience.
To one born deaf the information on a music score
May delineate all the proper patterns of wondrous song
But sound itself belongs in a category of special glory
That demands an ear of sensitivity to enchant with depth
Well beyond notation’s scribble to convey what sound displays.
Science, submerged in the admitted wonders of mathematic exploration,
Can penetrate deeply well beyond what common sense can offer
Into the undeniables of perversities that openly declare our sensibilities
Cannot be aware of things well beyond our senses that are definitely there.
Notation, here becomes the key to mysteries immense to outreach
Fundamental integrations of our sensitivities that were meant to enable
Simplicities of nourishment and propagation and availabilities of basic needs,
Not much more.
As we poke our curiosity into the unknown, we must accept
That we barely are aware of the all-encompassing universe wherein
Infinities touch and twist every point of time and space in interactions
That define, extend or, perhaps, destroy what we can know or cannot.
