The Greek mountains were a world of shadows, unforgiving and ancient. Jagged peaks sliced into the sky, their dark silhouettes looming like the remnants of gods long forgotten.
The wind screamed through the valleys, carrying with it the bitter taste of salt and pine resin, as though the earth itself was bracing for what was to come. The clouds above gathered in ominous silence, heavy and unyielding, as though they knew something the world below did not.
Lieutenant Nikolaos “Niko” Kalogeris crouched low behind a jagged outcrop of rock, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the valley below. His breath came slow and steady, the cold air biting at his face, but his focus was razor-sharp. He had been waiting for this moment for hours, watching, calculating. His hand rested on the cold metal of his rifle, fingers twitching around the trigger as his mind processed the information, instincts honed by years of war.
A historical novel.
James O. Miller. After 23 years of high school teaching history and four years teaching in Germany retirement didn’t come well especially since I hate gardening and golf. So I decided to exercise my imagination combined with my academic knowledge.
