We are flying for a second issue with a fist having made an amazing departure far better than my wildest hopes.
So, in December 17th, 1903 aviation started with Orville and Wilbur Wright flying the Wright Flyer and moving us, literally moving us, unbelievable pathways to the future all the way to the moon and Mars.
The Wright brothers' historic flight in 1903 marked a pivotal moment in human history, ushering in the era of powered flight. Their groundbreaking achievement was the culmination of years of meticulous research, experimentation, and innovation.
Beyond their technical prowess, the Wright brothers possessed an unwavering belief in the possibility of human flight. They faced countless setbacks and naysayers, but their determination and perseverance fuelled their pursuit of this audacious dream. Their story serves as an enduring testament to the power of human ingenuity and the importance of never giving up.
The impact of the Wright brothers' achievement is far-reaching and continues to shape our world. Air travel has revolutionized transportation, commerce, and culture. It has connected people across vast distances, facilitated global trade, and accelerated scientific discovery. The aviation industry has grown into a global powerhouse, employing millions and driving economic growth.
The Wright brothers' story also highlights the importance of experimentation and iteration. They conducted numerous wind tunnel tests and flight experiments, refining their designs and techniques with each attempt. Their willingness to learn from their mistakes and adapt their approach was key to their eventual success.
In addition to their technical contributions, the Wright brothers were skilled marketers and promoters of their work. The Wright brothers' legacy I really hope that continues to inspire us to dream big, work hard, and never give up on our goals. Their story is a testament to the power of human ingenuity, perseverance, and collaboration which also hides some ...dangers as we will find out in the last article of this special Ovi History issue.
Last but not least and ...unfortunately it has to do with what I wrote in the last paragraph and a poem David Sparenberg contributed for this issue. The Wright Brothers were everything USA represented for centuries, hope, pioneering, curiosity, optimism. Sadly in the 21st century all these have lost their power walled by polarized politics that fly USA to dark territories nobody really wishes. So let’s hope that the Brothers Wright remind to our fellow American all that really was and not that what has become.
