Taming Hate #Poem by Jan Sand

The beasts of fate that integrate
The businesses of isnesses to engage
Amities out of calamities where oppositions
Snarl and growl, must, at end, defend the possibilities
That plus and minus can sum in unity to create
Community.

Eagles, seagulls, beagles and butterflies donate
Their individualities to supply their wit and wisdoms,
To bark and zoom, frisk and fly, deny that limitations
On living explorations possesses only distresses but directs
Ingenuities to opportunities for the static strengths of sequoias,
The clever twisting sinuosities of snakes, sparklings of lightning bugs,
And the structural delights of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Humanity’s insanities can be most extraordinary in cleverness
To jostle the pristine dusty territories on the Moon,
But its rambling rocketries cannot define the immense human extents
To convert its total planet into excrement, an exhibition
Of devoted energies quite magical to defeat evolution’s struggle to evoke
The vast possibilities of all living things to snugly merge demands of needs
With availabilities.

Evolution is denied sensibility or intent, but its vigor to develop in humanity
Extraordinary powers for complete and total self-destruction confirms the rumor
That Darwin’s discovery, without a doubt, possesses a very amusing sense of humor.
